In Canada, experienced researchers focused in the line of infectious disease, are experimenting with the possible use of components found in cannabis, as they work hard at finding a vaccine for the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The research team at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, believe a plant-based antigen is a more viable option in a search for vaccine than animal-based antigen.

Researchers believe that the plant-based compounds will be a faster remedy due to the ability of plant-based components swiftly cloning proteins. The idea is that if a plant-based vaccine is discovered, then it will be faster to produce on a large scale for commercial availability.
The research team Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-InterVac) partnered with the medical cannabis company Zyus Life Sciences to test the use of plant-based components from cannabis in producing a protein that can be used as a COVID-19 vaccine. As researchers across the globe race to find a vaccine, it can be seen that researches testing all available optionsin the hopes of finding a safe and effective vaccine against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
